| Çiğli Wastewater Treatment Plant that is the continuation of the İzmir Great Sewege Canal Project produces about 600 tons of sludge per day as a consequence of its treatment processes. The sludge formed is first dewatered and then stabilized by lime and transformed into biosolid. Hence, the organic decomposition, odor and insect problems are prevented. Successful tests on plant growth and product quality are underway with the sludge that is transformed into a biosolid. Finally, the biosolid is stored within the plant and is further covered by Alkeo-hydrate that is used as an alternative to the chemical control against odor and insect. This process is economically more viable and removes all the negative impacts of the disposed sludge. |
